If you want to buy a punch press to process products, then you must know more about stamping process knowledge. Many people only know the unilateral knowledge of the press, the understanding of stamping process is not much.

In this paper, I hope to learn:

What is a punch press machine?

The punch bed is a punching press. In production, the stamping process is more and more widely used because of saving materials and energy, high efficiency, low technical requirements for the operator and through a variety of mold applications can make the products that can not be achieved by mechanical processing.

Stamping production is mainly aimed at the plate. Through the mold, we can make blanking, punching, forming, drawing, dressing, fine punching, shaping, riveting and extrusion parts and so on, widely used in various fields. For example, we use switch sockets, cups, cupboards, dishes, computer cases... There are a lot of accessories that can be produced with a punch press through a die.

The working principle of punch press

The design principle of punch press is to convert circular motion into linear motion, drive flywheel by main motor output, drive gear, crankshaft through clutch (or eccentric gear), connecting rod, etc., to achieve the linear motion of slide block, from the main motor to the movement of connecting rod for circular motion.

The press exerts pressure on the material to plastically deform it to obtain the desired shape and precision, so a set of molds (divided into upper and lower molds) must be used.

Punch classification

Punch is divided into: mechanical punch, pneumatic punch, hydraulic punch,

Stamping production line is divided into: roll stamping production line and sheet metal stamping production line

What are the stamping processes?

  1. Bending: the plastic forming method of bending metal plates, pipe fittings and profiles into a certain Angle, curvature and shape. Bending is one of the main processes widely used in stamping production. Bending of metal materials is essentially an elastic-plastic deformation process. After unloading, the workpiece will produce elastic recovery deformation in the direction, called rebound. Springback affects the precision of workpiece and is the key technology to be considered in bending process.

  2. Deep drawing: deep drawing, also known as drawing or calendering, is the stamping processing method of using the mold to make the blank plate after blanking into open hollow parts. Thin-wall parts of cylindrical, stepped, conical, spherical, box and other irregular shapes can be made by deep drawing process. If combined with other stamping processes, it can also produce extremely complex parts. Due to the different geometry characteristics, the position of deformation zone, the nature of deformation, the distribution of deformation and the stress state and distribution law of each part of billet have considerable differences, even essential differences.

  3. Pull: is through the pull die to exert tension on the sheet, so that the sheet produces uneven tensile stress and tensile strain, then the sheet and pull die fitting surface gradually expand, until the pull model surface completely fit. The application object of pull shape is mainly the double curvature skin with certain plastic manufacturing materials, large surface area, gentle and smooth curvature changes, and high quality requirements. Due to the simple process equipment and equipment used, the material utilization rate and productivity are low.

  4. Spinning: is a kind of metal rotary processing technology. In the process of machining, the blank rotates actively with the spinning die or the spinning head rotates actively around the blank and the spinning die, and the spinning head moves relative to the core die and the blank to make the blank produce continuous local deformation and obtain the required hollow rotary body parts.

  5. Shaping: it is to use the established shape of the abrasive tool to repair the shape of the product. Mainly reflected in the pressure plane, spring foot and so on. In view of some materials exist elasticity, can not ensure the quality of a molding, the use of reprocessing.

  6. Bulging: is the processing method of using the mold to make the plate stretch thin and increase the local surface area to obtain parts. Commonly used undulating forming, cylindrical billet bulging and flat billet stretching forming. Bulging can be achieved by a variety of methods, such as die, rubber and hydraulic.

  7. Flanging: it is a plastic processing method that bends the thin sheet billet edge or narrow band area of prefabricated hole edge into vertical edge along a curve or straight line. Flanging is mainly used for strengthening the edge of parts, removing the cut edges and making parts that are assembled and connected with other parts or three-dimensional parts with complex specific shapes and reasonable space, while improving the stiffness of parts.

  8. Shrinkage: it is a stamping method to reduce the diameter of the open end of the hollow parts or billets without flange that has been drawn. Before and after the shrinkage of the workpiece end diameter change should not be too large, otherwise the end of the material will be severely compressed and wrinkled. Therefore, from a large diameter to a small diameter of the neck, often need multiple shrinkage.

Punch Press Machine Features

Punch widely used in electronics, communications, computers, household appliances, furniture, transportation, (automobile, motorcycle, bicycle) hardware parts stamping and forming.

  1. The fuselage is stable without deformation

  2. Stable high precision.

  3. Reliable and safe operation performance.

  4. Production automation, labor saving, high efficiency.

  5. The sliding speed adjustment is divided into manual adjustment and electric adjustment, which is convenient, reliable, safe and fast, and the accuracy can reach 0.1mm.

  6. Novel design and environmental protection. It has the advantages of low noise, low energy consumption and no pollution.

How to choose the punch press that suits yourself?

  1. Choose punch equipment, first of all to clearly understand the characteristics of the processed products (including the nature of the stamping process, the size of production, the geometric size of the stamping parts, precision requirements, process distribution, finished products, waste treatment, etc.).

  2. The characteristics of all kinds of punch stamping equipment (including the size of pressure and power, which auxiliary devices and functions, stroke, speed, accuracy, mold space size, working space size, etc.).

  3. Suitable for the combination of these two characteristics. That is to say, the performance of the selected punch equipment and the processing of products to adapt to the requirements of equipment performance, as far as possible not to cause lack or waste. Then, determine the type and specifications of the device.

The stamping type should be selected according to the quantity and speed of stamping products required. Different press models are different in the choice of materials.
